The new Daishin Securities headquarters is a high risebuilding in the middle of Seoul downtown. The proposal explores the potentialof versatile positions of the core within the plan of the building. By displacingthe first five floors of the building to the north-east side of the site andkeeping the parking in a central position we manage to create three “core-plan”configurations. A central core on the parking levels to facilitate radialcirculations, a central core in the lobby and commercial levels and a displacedcore to the north on the office levels. The displacement of the core to thenorth allows maximizing the views to Namsan Mountain.
The façade is solved in two materials: glass and ceramictiles. The proportion of the two materials varies as we go higher starting witha larger proportion of ceramic tiles on the bottom ending in a complete glassedcurtain wall at the very top of the tower.
